Le Christ est ressuscité,

réjouissons-nous avec la Vierge Marie

Le dimanche des Rameaux, nous avons également fêté la 32ème Journée Mondiale de la Jeunesse. Dans son Message, le Pape François invite l’Eglise à porter le souci des jeunes d’une manière toute particulière durant les trois prochaines années. Elles seront marquées, en octobre 2018, par le Synode des évêques sur le thème « Les jeunes, la foi et le discernement des vocations » et, en janvier 2019, par les JMJ au Panama.

C’est l’occasion pour tous ceux qui sont engagés dans l’enseignement catholique, de réfléchir aux repères de l’éducation chrétienne et à leur mise en œuvre.

Aux jeunes,le Pape donne en modèle la Vierge Marie qui devrait aussi inspirer les éducateurs : « J’ai en effet à cœur que vous, les jeunes, vous puissiez marcher non seulement en faisant mémoire du passé, mais en ayant également le courage dans le présent et l’espérance pour l’avenir. Ces attitudes, toujours vivantes dans la jeune femme de Nazareth, sont exprimées clairement dans les thèmes choisis pour les trois prochaines Journées Mondiales de la Jeunesse.

Cette année 2017, nous réfléchirons sur la foi de Marie lorsqu’elle a déclaré dans le Magnificat ‘le Puissant fit pour moi des merveilles’ (Lc 1,49). Le thème de l’année prochaine 2018 : ‘Sois sans crainte Marie car tu as trouvé grâce auprès de Dieu’ (Lc 1,30) nous fera méditer sur la charité pleine de courage avec laquelle la Vierge a accueilli l’annonce de l’ange. Les JMJ 2019 s’inspireront des paroles: ‘Voici la servante du Seigneur, que tout m’advienne selon ta Parole’ (Lc 1,30): réponse de Marie à l’ange, pleine d’espérance. »

       Modèle pour les jeunes et les éducateurs, la Vierge Marie est également leur mère à tous. Comme à l’Annonciation pour la naissance du Christ, Marie a joué un rôle actif, un rôle de mère, dans la naissance de l’Eglise. A la Pentecôte, Marie était là discrètement pour ouvrir les apôtres au souffle de l’Esprit de Dieu. Comme elle a soutenu l’Eglise dans les premiers pas de sa mission, elle le fait encore aujourd’hui, spécialement pour ceux qui ont à cœur l’annonce de la Bonne Nouvelle de Jésus ressuscité. A la messe en la solennité de la Très Sainte Vierge Marie, le 1er janvier dernier, le Pape soulignait un aspect important du rôle des mères : « elles sont l’antidote le plus fort contre nos tendances individualistes et égoïstes, contre nos fermetures et nos apathies ».

     L’hymne du Regina Coeli qui remplace la prière de l’Angelus durant le temps pascal, nous aide à entrer dans la joie de Pâques avec la Vierge Marie. La prière se termine par cette invocation, «Prie Dieu pour nous, alléluia». Puisse Marie notre mère, nous affermir et nous garder dans la joie d’annoncer et de vivre la Bonne Nouvelle du Christ ressuscité !

Christ is risen. Let us rejoice with the Blessed Virgin Mary.

On Palm Sunday, we also celebrated the thirty-second World Youth Day. In his message, Pope Francis invites the Church to look after with special care the youth during the next three years. The following themes will be stressed in October by the Synod of the Bishops: Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment in January 2019, during the World Youth Day in Panama.

This is an opportunity for all those committed to the Catholic teaching to reflect on these landmarks in Christian education and how to implement them. The Pope gives young people a model, the Blessed Virgin Mary, who should also be an inspiration for the educators : “I fervently hope that you young people will continue to press forward, not only cherishing the memory of the past, but also with courage in the present and hope for the future. These attitudes were certainly present in the young Mary of Nazareth and are clearly expressed in the themes chosen for the three coming World Youth Days. This year (2017) we will reflect on the faith of Mary, who says in the Magnificat: “The Mighty One has done great things for me” (Lk 1:49). The theme for next year (2018) – “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God” (Lk 1:30) – will lead us to meditate on the courageous charity with which the Virgin welcomed the message of the angel. The 2019 World Youth Day will be inspired by the words “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38), Mary’s hope-filled reply to the angel”.

A model for the youth and educators, the Blessed Virgin Mary is also their mother. As on the Annunciation of  the birth of the Christ, Mary played an active part, the part of a mother in the birth of the Church. On Whitsunday, Mary was there, discreet, to open up the apostles to the breath of the Spirit of God. As she supported the Church in the first steps in her mission, she still has an active part today, especially for those who are committed to proclaiming the Good news of Jesus risen. During the celebration of the solemnity of our Blessed Virgin Mary last January 1^st, the Pope underlined an important aspect of the role of a mother : “They are the strongest antidote to our individualistic and selfish trends, to our withdrawals and apathies.”

The hymn Regina Coeli that is prayed instead of the Angelus during the season of Easter helps us to enter the joy of Easter with the Blessed Virgin Mary. The prayer ends with this invocation, "Pray for us to God". May Mary our mother, strengthen us and keep us in the joy of proclaiming and living in the Good News of the Risen Christ !
